What are the Portuguese Language Reception Courses (PLA)?
The Portuguese Language Reception Courses (PLA) are free training programs aimed at adult migrants living in Portugal who need to learn or improve their command of the Portuguese language. Previously known as: Portuguese for Speakers of Other Languages (PFOL) Portuguese for Everyone (PPT) Legal Basis These courses were created under: Order No. 183/2020, August 5, amended by Order No. 184/2022, July 21 Objectives of PLA courses Promote the social and professional integration of migrants Respond to everyday communicative needs Prepare for access to the labor market Contribute to the fulfill mean of legal nationality requirements or Available Levels The courses are aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and are usually offered at the levels:
A1 (beginner)
A2 (basic)
B1 B2 (intermediate)
Who organizes the courses? They are organized by entities such as: Qualification Centers, Educational institutions, Civil society organizations accredited by the IEFP or ANQEP. Who can participate? Migrants over 18 years old legally residing in Portugal, who need to learn the Portuguese language. Registration and more information Interested parties should contact: A Qualification Center, The Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP), or other local entities supporting migrants.
