Learner’s Expectations Policies – January 2025
EDEX Association
Portuguese Language Course: Expected Language Requirements
To attend our Portuguese Language Course, learners are expected to have a basic understanding of English. This is necessary to follow the teacher’s instructions, as English is used as the common language for communication.
While our classes are conducted 80% in European Portuguese, our qualified native Portuguese-speaking teachers will also use English and, where possible, other languages to assist with guidance and clarity.
Course Attendance Policy
To maintain the integrity and recognition of our course and the RVCC (Recognition, Validation, and Certification of Competences) process, learners are required to adhere to the following attendance policy:
-
A minimum attendance of 90% is mandatory, whether attending in person or online.
-
Learners who exceed the 10% absence limit will be automatically removed from the course.
-
This attendance policy is in accordance with national education regulations and was agreed to by learners prior to enrollment.
Note: It is the learner’s responsibility to ensure full attendance and successful completion of the course.
The awarding body reserves the right to exclude any learner from the course if they fail to comply with the attendance requirement.
Use of Technology for Online Classes
To ensure effective participation, learners attending online must meet the following technology requirements:
-
A reliable internet connection is required.
-
Learners must use a phone, tablet, or laptop with a functioning camera and microphone.
-
Cameras must be turned on at all times during lessons to verify attendance and encourage active participation.
-
EDEX does not provide internet access or devices.
Classroom and Online Participation
Active participation is essential for a successful and engaging learning experience. Learners must:
-
Interact with the teacher during lessons.
-
Be in a quiet, focused environment, free of distractions.
-
Refrain from driving, cooking, or working while attending class.
-
Complete all activities and assignments given by the teacher.
-
Follow all instructions and be fully attentive throughout the lessons.
-
Be motivated and committed to learning Portuguese.
Participation is mandatory. Learners who do not engage risk losing their place in the course and eligibility for certification.
Training & Certification Responsibility
EDEX Association and its partners follow a rigorous educational and certification process under the RVCC guidelines. While we ensure high standards in teaching and administration, please note:
-
EDEX is not liable for any losses, damages, or failure to receive certification if a learner fails to follow the stated policies.
-
It is the learner’s responsibility to complete the course successfully and meet all requirements.
